Meet Joyce

The most meaningful love stories aren't about perfect people. They're about ordinary people who find the courage to love, to forgive, and to keep believing in one another when life places obstacles in their path.

When I finished writing my first novel, I wasn't thinking about the words I'd written. I was thinking about the two people who had finally found their way to each other. I closed the manuscript with an overwhelming sense of joy and satisfaction because, despite everything they had faced, they had earned the promise of a beautiful future together.

That's the feeling I hope to leave with you every time you finish one of my stories.

My Story

People often ask how I became a writer. The truth is, it all began with one story.

I was a shy kid, so I somehow always found my nose in a book. I read all kinds of stories, but the ones that stayed with me were my mother’s Harlequin romances and historical romances. Those stories filled me with hope, love, and the promise that enduring love was possible. Someday, I wanted to find that kind of love for myself.

Then one day, instead of reading a story, I found one unfolding in my own imagination. It wasn’t the beginning—it was the whole story. I grabbed a pen and started writing. A few days later, I had an entire novel written longhand on notebook paper. So, naturally—I bought a typewriter.

As I continued writing, I realized I was always drawn to the same kind of story – ordinary people whose love grows through trust, understanding, forgiveness, and perseverance. I enjoy watching two people truly get to know one another before they fall in love. To me, the happiest endings are the ones that have been earned.

When I’m quilting, gardening, doing chores, or swimming in the pool, story ideas have a funny way of finding me. Pop! There it is. I suppose my mind finally gets quiet enough to let the next story wander in. I truly hope those moments never stop happening. I never want to stop sharing stories with others about that kind of love.

Thank you for spending a little time with me. I hope you feel at home, and even more, I hope one of my stories finds a place in your heart.
